Konstantin Bayer

KONSTANTIN BAYER sees his work as artist, curator and artistic director of EIGENHEIM Weimar/ Berlin as a unit of artistic practice. As an artist he questions the prevailing consumer culture and throw-away society, environmental awareness and global developments. As curator he embeds these and other themes in deepening contexts and as artistic director he develops an environment of collective practice.

Accordingly, the media used are also versatile. Objects, installations, photography, film and performance, or environments, participative space installations and Internet projects. A wide variety of materials and social spaces are used. Whether coal, bitumen, concrete, sculpture, readymades in art or construction sites, prisons and underground garages in the curation. His work as artistic director of EIGENHEIM Weimar/Berlin is also expressed in works of art that refer to the institution, such as in the photographic series (»Reference Objects of our Aesthetic Everyday Culture«), in the preservation of the ceiling of EIGENHEIM Weimar as an all-embracing object, or in participative installations such as the replica of a Chinese restaurant.

The works from the series »Artarticles«, created between 2015 and 2017, consist without exception of articles that can be purchased on Amazon. These can be ordered directly at www.art-articles.com in the form of a shopping cart linked to Amazon, are being delivered to your home and set up by you with the help of instructions provided by the artist. Once this is done, take a picture of the replica and email it to the artist. If the artist approves your replica as successful and in accordance with the instructions, you will receive one of the five certificates of authenticity available for each work. Only the value of the individual products is paid for, the artist does not earn any monetary profit from the process. In this series, too, Konstantin Bayer ties in with his previous spectrum of forms and themes.
