Eugen Kunkel – In the woods, 2014

of Oriental Pomerania in the search for images and memories of an old, long time forgotten home, the Northern Ural. His paintings deal with return. Occasionally single people are seen, mostly from the back. They invite the beholder to step into the painting and to follow them. It is a continuous search for images and motives, which are fed through his memory but which are rooted in the here and now of our present.
Eugen Kunkel (*1976 in Nowaja Ljalja RUS) lives and works in Greifswald, Germany.

We mourn our friend and benefactor, the artist and philosopher Prince Rudolf zur Lippe, who died on 6 September 2019.

He made thoughts dance and people move.

During the exhibition in Erfurt, which shows works from the cycle "Learning from the Birds" in the church of the Augustinian monastery, he wanted to talk to us about it and how it is linked to Goethe and Alexander von Humboldt.

We will miss him greatly, not only there.
